New York City

Broken up into five different boroughs: the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. The city is spread out over 302.64 square miles of land and is home to an estimated 8.3 million people. Approximately 800 languages are spoken in NYC and there are roughly 50 million visitors to the city annually. Shops and restaurants of practically every sort fill the city; if you’re looking for it, you can probably find it here.

Chateau Carmin

Frequently called simply the Chateau by its patrons, Chateau Carmin has been a staple part of the community for the past twenty years. A beautiful, inconspicuous brownstone in upper Manhattan, it's maintained in a meticulously Victorian interior style. In the basement lies a more classical dungeon, but toys are frequently brought up to the proper sitting rooms for entertainment. The second floor has three guest bedrooms, lavishly furnished, and you may rent out the space for the night or use them as a place to play privately during a party. The top floor houses Mistress Carmin's residence, the chateau owner and a playful, vivacious lady of unremitting poise. Those who make regular appearances at her parties and especially impress her might merit a session with the Mistress of their own-- whether as an educational session with their own submissive, or being worked over by her personally.

Patrons who come to the chateau may rent out the space or, more commonly, engage in the services of the house dominants and submissives to fulfill their desires. This is firmly not prostitution, and no penetrative sex of any kind will be engaged in by the NPCs, but toys may be (and frequently are) used in their stead. If you can think of it, they're willing to do it to or with you and your partner. The accommodations for overnight guests include sumptuous meals prepared by house submissives and an enormous bathing suite for further play. Guests may themselves have sex in private. The chateau's parties occur frequently and often book up weeks in advance with attendants, so it's a great place to meet others and to stop in and unwind.

Central Park

Created in 1857, Central Park spans 840.01 acres and is located between 8th Avenue (Central Park West) and 5th Avenue, and runs from 59th Street (Central Park South) to 110th Street (Central Park North). It’s host to a reservoir, a lake, and numerous ponds. Trails and walkways crisscross the park, allowing people to use the park both for leisure and exercise and for traveling across the city. There are a number of activities visitors to the park can enjoy, such as boating, carriage horse rides, ice skating, pedicabs, picnicking, playing sports, and rock climbing. For those looking to spend a bit more time, the park is also home to the American Museum of Natural History, Belvedere Castle, the Carousel, Central Park Conservatory Zoo, Central Park Zoo, Delacorte Theater, the Guggenheim, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Swedish Cottage Marionette Theater.

Subway System

The New York City Subway system is the largest in the world, numbering 468 stations in operation, and is one of the world’s oldest. It contains 209 miles of routes and 842 miles of total trackage. There are approximately 1.65 billion rides each year, with 5.4 million on weekdays, 3.2 million on Saturdays, and 2.5 million on Sundays. Rail service is offered 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Subway stations are located in Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens. Staten Island has its own railway, but the rest of the city’s lines don’t reach it. In order to get there, travelers must use the ferry or bus. The system runs on Metrocards, instead of tokens or cash. All passengers must have one to ride, and they can be purchased or refilled at any subway station. The base fare is $2.50 per ride, with any amount able to put on a card, though passengers can purchase 7-day unlimited ($29) and 30-day unlimited ($112) ride cards. There are subway maps in every station, as well as a subway map app that can be downloaded to smartphones for free.

Grand Central Terminal

Located at 42nd Street and Park Avenue in Manhattan, Grand Central Terminal is described by many as the world's loveliest station. It's the world's sixth most visited tourist attraction and it's hardly surprising. The station is home to a number of different stores and eateries, a farmer's market, a mural of the constellations (reversed from their actual position in the sky) on the ceiling, and gorgeous architecture. It also hosts 44 platforms that serve 67 railway tracks, making it the largest station in the world. Hidden beneath the terminal is a secret subbasement, called M42, that supplies Grand Central with DC traction current. The precise location of this area is a closely guarded secret for tampering with the equipment housed inside it could prove to be disastrous.

Public Library

The New York Public Library is the second largest library in the United States (behind the Library of Congress) and the third largest in the world. Branches of the library exist in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island, and it affiliates with academic and professional libraries throughout New York state. The library houses approximately 53 million items and has 75 miles of shelves. Two large lion statues flank the steps to the main branch, located in Manhattan: their names are Patience (to the south) and Fortitude (to the north). While the architecture remains much the way it was when the library was built, the main reading room has been outfitted with computers so that today’s patrons may access both the library’s digital collections and the internet. Docking stations are also provided for laptops.

Stark Industries

Although it’s not part of the city proper, Stark Industries is a notable business located on Long Island. As the world leader in technology, SI is a major employer. Its payroll runs the gamut, from clerical support staff and unskilled laborers to some of the highest-paid scientists in the world. The Long Island facility is responsible for the manufacture and distribution of Stark Industries products. Individuals looking to make a name for themselves in the science community, or those simply wanting a fast-paced career with plenty of room for advancement, are encouraged to apply for open positions. A map of the complex can be found here.

Stark Tower

Located at 200 Park Avenue at East 45th Street (above Grand Central Terminal), Stark Tower is a recent addition to New York City. Once home to the Metlife Building, Tony Stark had the upper floors deconstructed in 2011 to accommodate his designs for the completed building. Construction ended in 2012. The lower floors house numerous offices for the New York City branch of Stark Industries, as well as a number of floors specifically designated for research and development and laboratory work. The building runs on one of Stark’s arc reactors, completely independent from the power grid and wholly self-sustainable. The top fifteen floors of the 93-story building are Tony Stark’s private floors. As such, access is restricted to those he has personally authorized to be there.

Torchwood Five

Torchwood Five is located in an old brick warehouse in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Seemingly empty, with no industrial activity, it houses the newest branch of Torchwood, an organization based out of the UK about which very little is known. Residents of London during the disaster of Canary Wharf may have heard rumors about it, as may have residents of Cardiff, Wales, but nothing has ever truly been established or set in stone. Empty as it seems, save for the passings of the two mysterious workers, the building is very secure, high tech alarms set at the perimeter, and any attempts to sneak into the building end in disaster. Visitors during 'business hours' will see only the reception areas, front offices of the building, and possibly the kitchen, which seem to have had recent work done to modernize them. Access to the rest of the warehouse is strictly blocked off.

Academy NYC

Located in Midtown, Manhattan, the Academy NYC building is home to the New York branch of Cocoon's research and higher education institute, and is (currently) the only building of its kind outside of the Academy's home country. The lower floors of the 60-foot structure houses servers, laboratories, a library and offices for the research teams, communications, security, medical, and HR divisions, while the rest contains the employee residences, with the Director taking the penthouse. Separating the work area and residential area is the hangar, also known as the large and spacious 30th floor, which contains two small airships for the Academy's use.

The only sections open to the public are the lobby on the ground floor and the library at the 24th floor, which contains not only books from Cocoon but from the rest of the world. Most Cocoon-made books are written in the Cocoon text, but anyone interested in reading such books will be lent a tablet with a digital copy written in the English alphabet. Anyone looking to speak to the Academy in a professional capacity will be escorted into the conference rooms on the 20th floor, but those who want to meet with just the Director will be brought to his office. Access to the residential area is prohibited unless personally invited and accompanied by one of the employees.

Construction began in 2010 after Cocoon and the US agreed to have the Academy instead of an embassy on American soil, and completed in late 2011. The building is not part of the power grid, but runs on both solar energy and the green energy technology that the Academy itself had developed, thus making the headquarters self-sustainable.

This is by no means a comprehensive list of all the locations in the game. New ones are being added all the time, both by the mods and by the players. If you have a location that you would like to have added to the list – one that your character maintains, one that you reference on a regular basis in your tags, one that you just think would be fun to have, etc – please fill out the form below and we will add it to the list.
